Today's route took us up Route 6, past the Roaring Meg hydro power station. How magnificent to see clean energy being generated. From there we went up route 8 with a slight detour along 83 to Benmore Lakes. Wow! Who would have guessed it would be that beautiful. They say that Montana is big sky country but I have to say that this is about as "big sky" as you can get! Back along 83 to Route 8 and up to Lake Pukaki and Tekapo.
I'd been wanting to come to Tekapo for a long time. The Church of the Good Shepard is all over Instagram and there are some fantastic walks around the lake to the observatory...That is for tomorrow.
